What We Are.
Tycoed Restorative Farm & Family Ecovillage
We appreciate our beautiful piece of this Earth. The property has forests, ponds and creeks, diverse plant and animal life and amazing views to the north and the Lake Simcoe Watershed. We live in two beautiful “recycled” log homes from the 1840’s, connected to a marvelous B.C. Cedar addition, and we share the space with 3 families.
We are undertaking a restorative farm project with a number of phases using permaculture and hugelkultur principles. We already see the significant change that has occurred with Phase 1.
We are committed to becoming a Learning Centre and a model of how to make changes, small and large, that will help make a difference locally and for the planet. We will hold workshops, tours and welcome individuals to share our work.
We are learning the meaning of community required for our continued life on this Earth. We like to talk about our own family ecovillage, the broader concepts of ecovillage and intentional community living. We provide ideas on how you can build other types of “community” in the way you live; for example, living bio-regionally.
We are expanding this concept further through experiential exercises; we are showing you how you can know the land that you walk on, much in the way our first nation friends have always done. In becoming involved you will gain an understanding of the importance of your watershed, the value of being connected to your own bioregion, and develop your sensitivity to the earth’s needs.
At the Tycoed Restorative Farm, we are part of the People of the Beaver River; you will marvel in the land, the home, the way of life and the strong connection to community and the Lake Simcoe Watershed/Bioregion.
We invite all to come and celebrate connection to the Earth.
